Costa Rica Climate

Costa Rica Climate - Like many tropical countries, Costa Rica located in Central America has several climate types depending on what area of the country is being looked at. It is one of the countries that do not suffer from what is normally considered winter or summer.
Costa Rica does have a rainy season. This season usually lasts from May till November on the Caribbean side of Costa Rica. It stands that the dry season would take up the rest of the year running between the months of December through April. 
The Pacific side experiences its rainy season from Mid April till December.
Rainfall usually averages approximately 100 inches. This average is for the majority of regions. Regions of Costa Rica with higher altitudes and eastern facing slopes may experience higher rainfall that this average shows.
When you're in Costa Rica, the temperature varies anywhere from 72 degrees in the Central Valley to 89 degrees on the Pacific coast. The variance however has more to do with how far you are above sea level than the actual location.
There are some climate created issues that one needs to be aware of in Costa Rica. Because of the sometimes excessive rains that eastern facing mountain slopes experience, landslides and mud slides are not uncommon. Also because of Costa Rica's location it may experience hurricane and tropical storm weather.
One of the benefits of Costa Rica's location and its climate is the creation of eco-systems such as the cloud forest. The cloud forest is created by large quantities of moisture forming around mountains and mountain ranges creating a heavy layer of mist. Another climate effecting weather pattern that affects Costa Rica is El Nino. it appears once every 2 to 7 years and usually interrupts the normal climatic weather patterns of a region.
All in all however, the climate of Costa Rica is pleasant though out the year and perfect for living or vacationing. It also offers a wide selection on various unique weather conditions that can only be found in areas such as Costa Rica. There are the cloud forests, the effects of El Nino. The areas where it rains all day and the areas where it simply provides an afternoon shower each day. 
Costa Rica climate is full of interesting climatic variances. One thing is for certain with all the climate variations and all the weather changes Costa Rica certainly can't be called dull or boring when it comes to its climate.
